LYSTA

LYSTA, a non-profit animal welfare organization in Fukushima Prefecture

LYSTA was established on September 11, 2011, six months after the earthquake and nuclear accident, with the initial goal of rescuing dogs left behind in the nuclear accident's exclusion zone.

In addition to the LYSTA shelter, we operate "Ohana, a foster-based cat cafe for adopted cats," and protect approximately 150 dogs and cats.

Our activities include taking in animals from public health centers, performing spay/neuter surgeries for ownerless cats once a month, and providing TNR (trap-neuter-return) services for elderly individuals at risk of multi-animal hoarding collapse.

How your donations will be used: What if you had 22,000 yen?

Spay/neuter surgeries for 3 ownerless or rescued cats.

How your donations will be used: What if you had 220,000 yen?

This would cover 44 spay/neuter surgeries, or 30 spay/neuter surgeries for ownerless or rescued cats.
The LYSTA shelter, which was urgently expanded next to a private home after the earthquake, is located near a river mouth and is prone to flooding during heavy rains and typhoons.
Having experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake and Typhoon Hagibis two years ago, we can no longer say "it was unforeseen."

On March 11, the LYSTA shelter, which was relocated in November due to flood damage, opened a portion of its rooms as "Ohana, a foster cat interaction shelter," a cat cafe.

The deep despair and sadness from March 11, 2011, still remain in our memories, but we will continue our activities with hope and a forward-looking attitude.

Our goal is to reach a sustainable zero-euthanasia baseline, where our activities are no longer needed, and eventually dissolve LYSTA.

Thank you for your continued support.
