aoneco support destination_NPO animal protection organization “LYSTA” June-July 2024 activity report

Here is a report on the activities of aoneco's supporter, the NPO animal welfare organization "LYSTA," from June to July!

From Mr. Suzuki, representative of the Fukushima-based NPO "LYSTA":

We have received reports on the cats from June to July 2024.

Rescuing a kitten too large to undergo surgery!

In June, we performed sterilization surgery on 82 cats at the Iwaki TNR Hospital, which is run by our organization.
Of these, there were three locations where we went to capture multiple animals.

Naturally, at this time of year, some of the kittens were too large to undergo surgery, so six kittens were rescued without undergoing TNR.

The staff are very reliable as they work their way through the vacant house, overgrown with grass, to set up traps.

Emergency protection!

We also received a consultation regarding owners with multiple pets needing to be hospitalized.

At the scene, three or four kittens of different sizes were born to the mother cat, and the remains of some of the kittens were also found.

Due to the kittens' poor condition, we urgently took in 10 kittens in total, including the 9 surviving kittens and the mother cat who had been taking full care of the kittens.

All of the adult cats that were left at the site were neutered and spayed in July, and relatives will continue to feed them.

Tamako has graduated!

Through our adoption activities, three cats have graduated.
Tamako-chan and Towa-chan go to the same house.
Non-chan will be going to a home where there is already a resident cat.
All three have settled in perfectly with our home and are enjoying life as house cats.

In June and July, we performed sterilization surgery on 169 cats!

In July, 87 cats were neutered and spayed.
We went into capture at three locations.

One of these locations was where we received a call in June and provided emergency protection for 10 emaciated kittens and their mother cat.

The seven adult cats that remained at the scene were neutered, but all of the female cats were pregnant with more kittens.

At another location, while we were capturing the kittens, we overheard a neighbor say that someone had put a newborn kitten in a plastic bag and gone to throw it away.

When I asked them where they had abandoned him, they evaded the question, so I told them, "Abandoning something is a crime, so if you don't bring it back right now, I'll have no choice but to call the police," and they brought it back.

Searching for the mother of a kitten that was abandoned in a plastic bag !

Among the kittens captured at the scene, including some that may have recently given birth, we searched for a mother cat with kittens that had been abandoned in a plastic bag.
The kittens were safely tucked away in their mother's arms.

Through the adoption activities, Ohagi-chan and Remi-chan have found new families.

Thank you for your continued support.
