Aoneco's supporter, the NPO animal welfare organization "LYSTA," reports on their activities in June and thanks them for their donations!
From Mr. Suzuki, the representative of the Fukushima Prefecture NPO LYSTA:
We received a report on the cats in June 2025 .
June activity report.
With its front legs together, it waits for food!
In June, 36 animals were spayed or neutered.
Many of the kittens were too large to undergo surgery, so 15 kittens were vaccinated and given flea and tick treatment, and the surgery was postponed until July.
We adopted five cats from the shelter.
Ruby-chan came with Puffy-chan!
All All dogs and cats have equal lives, but we prioritize those who are injured and likely to be euthanized, as well as those who are difficult to adopt out to the general public, and we take in animals with the intention of caring for them for their entire lives.
Of the many animals housed, there are reasons why we chose these five.
① Kuroame: Cat AIDS carrier (owner died)
② Puffy: He shut himself up in a cardboard box and was not good at appealing to people looking to adopt him (his owner died)
3. Ruby: She wasn't very shy, but she and Puffy-chan came from the same hometown, so they were together (owner has passed away)
④ Choco: We had previously adopted three cats from a "multi-cat fire scene," and we were worried about their health. ⑤ Lala: She was born to a cat taken in by a shelter last year, and it had been about a year since she was born. All of her siblings had been adopted, leaving only one cat, and she was past the age for neutering, so we thought it was time for her to no longer live at the shelter.
Choco-chan! Let's go check your health!
Fukushima Prefecture has the worst rate of euthanasia in the country.
First, we aim to "stand at the starting line of a sustainable zero euthanasia" in our local city of Iwaki.
