LYSTA
Fukushima Prefecture NPO Animal Protection Group "LYSTA"
It was founded on September 11, 2011, six months after the earthquake and nuclear accident, with the initial aim of protecting dogs left behind in the nuclear accident exclusion zone.
In addition to the LYSTA shelter, we also operate the Ohana, a foster cat interaction salon that seeks foster parents, where we care for approximately 150 dogs and cats.
We take in animals taken in by animal shelters, perform sterilization and neutering services for stray cats once a month, and perform TNR services on behalf of elderly people who are caring for multiple pets and are at risk of losing their homes.

The LYSTA shelter, which was hastily expanded next to the family's home after the disaster, is located near a river mouth and is prone to flooding during heavy rains and typhoons.
Having experienced the Great East Japan Earthquake and Typhoon No. 19 two years ago, we can no longer say that something was "unforeseen."
On March 11th, the LYSTA shelter, which was relocated in November due to flooding, opened one of the rooms within the shelter as a rescue cat cafe called "Ohana: A Shelter for Interacting with Rescued Cats."
Although I still remember the deep despair and sadness I felt on March 11, 2011, I remain hopeful and continue to work forward.
Our goal is to be on the starting line for a sustainable zero euthanasia movement, so that our activities will no longer be necessary, and ultimately to disband LYSTA.
Thank you for your support.
